The Origin:
“From Brothers with Love” is twofold:
Fold a.) We, as in the writers, are indeed brothers.
Fold b.) Both of us were born in the greater Philadelphia area, and thus with great honor and pride, are self professed Philly sports fanatics.
The Point:
Dan and I will cover issues, concerns, events, and happenings within the sporting world. We will express our opinions, back them with facts (or not), and ask both each other and the reader to question our position. The bottom line: We want you to argue, whine, and complain. All topics will be open to discussion, and that is just the specific distillation of conversation we are hoping for. The comment link is there for a reason: use it. We want to hear what you think, and why you think it. Then, generally speaking, we’ll tell you how you are wrong.
The Example:
If you’ve followed this story at all since Saturday there are several YouTube videos depicting LB Brandon Spikes eye gouging Georgia RB Washaun Ealey.
Spikes, wrist deep in Washun’s helmet, is clearly attempting to rob Washun of his God given ability to see. Today, following the release of the YouTube video coach Urban Myers gave this press conference where he announced that for his actions during Saturday’s game versus the Bulldogs he would be suspending Spikes for the first HALF of the Vanderbilt game.
....
Uh, what? I’m scratching my head. Firstly, suspending someone for 30 minutes of play is the disciplinary equivalent of putting your kid in time out with his PSP. What’s the damn point? Urban Meyer just be honest and say what you really mean:
“Even though eye gouging is a disgusting and underhanded bull#@!$ play I’m going to ignore it because he is an All-American and a key member of my defense and we’ll be playing for the National title…seriously, come on? You don’t think I’ll actually suspend him do you? Its football right, what’s a little eye gouging really? Boys will be boys…how do you like my rings?”
Spikes excuse is one of the oldest in the books: “They did it first”. How does this make it better, I didn’t realize that Islamic law was prevalent in the game of football.
Brandon would do well there. Maybe he should look into a transfer.
Bottom Line: Spikes is an unsportsmanlike coward for trying to poke someone’s eyes out while they are down, and Meyer is doing his WORST at suppressing that kind of play.
And oh I refuse to take this response: It’s part of the game.
Good players don’t do that.
(PS This is the part where you comment and tell Ed that he is wrong/right/insane)
The Comic:
As an added bonus, both of us will be attempting to add a visual element to FBWL. Each week we will write and (poorly) draw a comic that portrays current sports issues in a light they should generally be shown in: ridiculous.
The Responsibility:
That’s that folks! We will deliver on the aforementioned products but we need each and every one of you to chip in as well. This blog will be most successful if we get as much audience involvement as possible. We truly want to seem like an open forum of discussion, but with dictators. It’s almost like a fake democracy, like when you’re growing up and your parents let you think what you say matters…but it really doesn’t. Just like that…

Looks like Spikes has decided to sit the whole game out (good for him). Somehow I don't think all of this will impact his draft ranking. Might actually improve it. Let's see, 6-3, 258, runs like the wind and hits like a tank. Also willing to do anything to win. Can I have him on my team?
